Multiple part processing with Plate and Cube Rotary Trunnions

October 19, 2010

Equals 4th-axis multi-part production for reduced manufacturing cost.

Plate and cube trunnions are add-on accessories for rotary tables or indexers that will allow multiple part positioning in a tilting, dual-axis set up. The plate has a machineable area on two surfaces with an adjustable centerline to accommodate various part heights. The cube is a solid aluminum block. One end of the plate or cube is supported with a bearing pillow block, while the other end mounts in or on the spindle of the rotary table or indexer. MORE

Bouns Depreciation Rule Set for Approval

September 29, 2010

For a change…Some good news from Washington.

If you need any more incentive to buy a new machine tool for 2010 delivery, here it is.

Last week, the House approved the Senate’s small business tax and credit bill.  President Obama has said he will sign the legislation, so victory is imminent on the depreciation bonus front.

Among other things, the legislation contains 50 percent bonus depreciation for 2010 (retroactive to the beginning of the year) and substantial increases in Sec. 179 small business expensing levels for 2010 and 2011.  The legislation also holds the depreciation bonus harmless from percentage of completion.  This clarification sought by construction groups will allow contractors working on long-term projects to better take advantage of the depreciation bonus law.
